1. Which assignment did you ENJOY working on the best? Why?

The assignment I enjoyed working on the most was the color wheel and the black and white value chart. This is because we got to use paint and it was my best artworks. 

2. Which assignment did you ENJOY working on the least? Why?

 The assignment I enjoyed working on the least was the last assignment which was the self-portrait. This is because I can not really draw. 

3. How did you like using BLACKBOARD?

I like using blackboard because it is a very organized website. It is easy to manage and it lets you know your grades. 

4. What is your opinion of the Discussion Groups in this course?

The discussion groups were kind of hard to keep up with because I would constantly look to see if there was one due for that particular week. 

5. Did you participate in any of the extra credit projects in previous modules? If so, what was your opinion of them? (mandala, Elgin marbles, culture, art critics)

I participated in one. I thought they were very helpful to boost your grade a little. 
6. If you had the opportunity to change this course:

What would you keep? 

I would keep just about everything. 

What would you remove?

I would remove the discussion group and the amount of work that would be due for some of the weeks. This is because sometimes there was a lot of work to be due by that Sunday. 

What would you add?

I would not add anything. 

7. Would you recommend this course to your peers?

I would recommend this course to my peers because it is a fun and simple class.

Reflection of AED 200

1. What were your expectations for this course and were they met?

My expectations for this course were to learn how to properly use the blog website. It was also to learn how to analyze artwork properly and learned what influenced the artist to make this type of art. My expectations were met. 

2. Now that you've been through this course, What is art? How would you define it now compared to your initial posting?

Art is a way of expressing yourself, your emotions, or whatever is going on in the world. Art is apart of life. People can create art every day and not realize it. Before, I defined it as something you can create that has value.

3. Who was your favorite artist in your original posting and who is your favorite visual artist now? If there is a difference, why do you think so? If you have the same favorite artist, why do you think so? 

My favorite artist back when starting the course was Picasso. However, my favorite artist now is Rashid Johnson. This is not only because he is a new artist, but for the simple fact that I can understand his artwork more than I can understand others. 

4. Now that you've completed this course, how do you feel about taking an online course? Is your answer the same as it was in your first posting? How is it the same or different?

I still feel the same way I did about taking an online course. I feel the same because I took a few online courses before I took this one. It is different because there was a lot more work for this course than the other courses I took.

1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces?
I selected these portraits as an inspiration piece because  I felt like it has some of the qualities I want to put into my self-portrait. I also selected these because I loved how they all had a different type of background and showed different facial expressions. 

2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait?
I decided to use a pencil as my media because if I make a mistake I can easily erase it. Also because it is much easier to manage with. 

3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them?
The challenges I faced was trying to make sure I add every little detail that was in the picture I took. 

4. How does this piece represent you?
This piece represents me because this is how I look on a daily basis if I decide not to leave my house. It also represents me because I am a stay in the house type of person and always like to feel comfortable. 

5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work?
The elements I used were shapes, space, value, and lines. The principles I used were movement, balance, and contrast. 

6. Did you enjoy working on this project?
I actually enjoyed doing this project because it lets me know how far I came from the beginning of this class. My drawings had actually improved throughout the course. 

7. What do you think of your final artwork?
I think my final artwork is pretty good. I put a lot of time and effort into this piece.

Art Project #4- Reflection Journal

I thought this project was going to be easy to complete but there were many steps that I had to take into completing this project. I enjoyed doing this project because I learned a lot about the different artworks and about the artist that created them. The steps that were taking to complete this project were, develop a theme of what I wanted my exhibit to be about. The next step was to find art that reflected this theme. Then, I had to dissect and analyze the artwork. Lastly, I had to put the powerpoint together and figure out what colors would attract attention to my exhibit.

Module 13 & 14: Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

For the first video, The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art, I learned that the term lowbrow was used for mostly paintings or images that had naked women in them. I also learned that people understand this form of art more than the other forms of art because there is nothing to explain. I also learned that after the second world war that New York got coronet art from France and Europe. In the second video, BBC Culture show: Tate Modern is 10! (Part 5), I learned that Monet paints in a way that you see one thing but you can also see another picture within the painting. In the last video, An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, I learned that knowledge is important in curation. 

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
Yes, the videos related to the creation of the art project. This is because it gives you an idea of how to interpret a piece in different ways. 

3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to the understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?

I feel like the films were very informative. I learned a lot from these films. It helped me understand curation. 

Module 12: Video Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

The two videos I chose were  Isamu Noguchi: The Sculpture of Spaces and Andy Warhol: Images of an Image. I chose these two videos because the titles grabbed my attention. I wanted to know what the videos were about. 

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

From the video Isamu Noguchi: The Sculpture of Spaces, I learned I learned that Noguchi built three hills in the sculpture garden. I also learned that Noguchi was never satisfied with what he created. He also turned to create something new. From the second video Andy Warhol: Images of an Image, I learned Andy Warhol did not want to be an artist. I also learned that Warhol became famous off of his different paintings of Marilyn Monroe. I also learned that in his 40s he became a society painter that was highly rated. 

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

The videos related to the reading because it gives more information about what these artists created compared to in the reading. It basically expanded on what was said in the reading. Also, gave information on how their artwork impacted the world. 

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to the understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I learned a lot from the film. The videos explained things that were not in the book. It also gave more examples of artworks by these two artists. Other than that, the videos were kind of long. However, I thought it was very informative. 

Module 11: Video Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

The videos I chose were The Mystical North: Spanish Art from the 19th Century to the Present and The Impact of Cubism. I chose these videos because I felt it would be interesting to watch videos on topics I am not familiar with. 

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the first video, The Mystical North: Spanish Art from the 19th Century to the Present, I learned that Goya's paintings were seen as horrid. I also learned that after Goya's death, painters after him started painting things that showed happiness, such as celebrations and dancing. In the second video, The Impact of Cubism, it was about Picasso actually inspired Gris. I also learned cubism is one big painting that uses a lot of geometric shapes to make one image.  

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

The videos relate to the reading because they both talked about the many different kinds of artwork during this time period. For example, like cubism. The videos also expanded on information that was in the reading. 

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to the understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I felt that the videos were very long. However, I felt that they were very informative. The films touched on information that was not given in the reading. It also showed many different artworks that were not within the reading.
